The IPL franchises must rebuild their squad and can retain up to six players in 25 slots. It differs from the mini-auction that used to get over within a day. - Allocated Purse for Franchises: Each franchise is allocated a purse of INR 120 crore. Punjab Kings purse is until now the highest one going up to INR 110.5 crore.
- Capped and Uncapped Players Info: There will be 272 capped International players. The IPL auction will include 965 uncapped Indian players and 152 uncapped Indians who were part of previous IPL seasons. This time 104 uncapped international players are set to go under the hammer.

The maximum size allotted to each franchise is 25 slots and the minimum size is 18 slots. There are almost 204 slots to be filled now out of 250 players slot. As each franchise can have a maximum of 8 overseas players, so 70 slots are provided for auction in 2025.
What To Expect From This 2025 Mega IPL Auction?
On one hand, we saw players being retained for a whopping sum, but in the 2025 IPL Mega Auction, there will be revised rules for Right to Match cards or RTM. Teams that already have retained 6 players will not receive this card but teams that haven’t retained this number will get access to RTM. After using this card, the teams can make a counteroffer for the player that another team is releasing.
Here’s an example, let’s say Royal Challengers Bengaluru releases Virat Kohli. Mumbai Indians placed a bid of INR 25 crore. RCB can use its RTM card to reclaim Kohli while MI can increase its bid. So, RCB has to match their new offer.
